Whenever I say hosting and server, he would mention cloud computing. Now, that makes me more confused than ever. In one of our discussions he already explained to me what cloud computing is and what are the advantages, but my mind just can’t understand the terms that he used. He told me how easy cloud performance management is and that it is the same as the one I am used to. In lay man’s term, it’s like a having a bigger server without having the need to add infrastructure. It saves a lot of space and money too. I still have to know more about vdi monitoring and it’s advantage to end users like me.

When my husband availed of a cloud computing service last year, I remember his bills was different every month. He says that because cloud computing only charges him on the amount of time he uses it. So in a way, you can save up a lot of money with cloud computing as you will not be billed when you’re using the server.

I am still learning about cloud computing but if it would be better for me and my blogs or for my upcoming hosting needs, I might consider buying a subscription.

Whenever I see flyer offering offering High Definition TV (HDTV) channel, I am always tempted to avail one. High Definition is like the new cable in terms of TV viewing. Imagine watching movies in high definition aka not pixelized and very clear. I know my husband will really like it if we will subscribe to an HDTV provider. And that’s the reason why I wanted to learn more about Time Warner Cable. When I started my research about high definition TV, I have learned great news about the company.

Watching in an HDTV channel is very different from watching on an ordinary TV, as mentioned above, there is big difference on pixel. In fact HDTV can have as much as 6 times more the details that ordinary TV. One can still watch Time Warner Cable Digital TV on a standard TV, of course if you want to watch it in High Definition, you will need a high definition Television.

When it comes to number of channels, they offer up to 250 channels and music channels. If you have more than one TV at home, you can connect all your TVs but you have to pay for a minimum fee. That is actually one of my concerns since we have two TVs, one in the living room and the other one is in our bedroom.

Our first car is a four-seater sedan, and when we first bought it, we had two kids. Although we now have four children, we still use our sedan. I realise that we need a bigger car or perhaps a van, but buying new is outside of our budget. We’ve been looking at buying a second-hand van as it’s cheaper, but we’re still weighing up all our options as we know that the condition of some second-hand cars isn’t great. It’s possible that, despite a nice exterior, the performance might not be so good. While we discussed our options, I came up with seven top tips for buying a second-hand car:

Buying a second-hand car isn’t like buying one brand new. You have to know what to look out for. It’s worth doing some research on second-hand buying tips, as well as any pros and cons you can find.

Know your budget. Then, you can determine which cars you can and can’t afford. Knowing your limits is also important, as you’ll find it easier to gauge which cars offer better value for money.

Look for car dealers who specialise in the type of car you want. Look at classified adverts or sign up for an online website which sells second-hand cars.

When you start looking in car showrooms, bring a mechanic with you so that they can help you with evaluating the car history check. They know about such things as oil changing, mileage and dents, and will be able to identify any flaws in the car you’re looking at.

Don’t be too shy about asking any questions. As you’re the one buying the car, it pays to be meticulous.

Check the car inside and out. It’s worth looking for any flaws you can find. To help you when you get to this stage, educate yourself about cars.

If you’re having any doubts about a car you’re looking at, don’t hesitate to walk away from it.

When we make a decision on which van or car to buy, I will let you know.

MANILA, Philippines, March 16, 2012 – What would you do for an Ultrabook™ computer? That’s the question Intel Corporation asks in Ultrabook™ Temptations, a series of six light-hearted experiments filmed in six cities across four countries and posted to YouTube today.

Sleek and stylish, Ultrabooks are a new category of computers inspired by Intel. They are the next generation of mobile computing–thinner, lighter and more responsive than traditional laptops, yet just as powerful and secure.

“People are drawn to Ultrabooks. When you see one, you just want one,” said Claudine Pache, digital marketing manager for Intel Australia and New Zealand. “We created the ‘Ultrabook Temptations’ to see just how far people would go to get their hands on an Ultrabook.”

The six experiments, filmed in Australia, Indonesia and Thailand, set out to explore the depth of human emotions that surround these objects of desire. The experiments were “temptations” for consumers, encouraging them to go a little beyond their everyday comfort zone to earn the chance to become the proud owner of a sleek Ultrabook. The experiments were filmed spontaneously in an effort to introduce Ultrabooks and are available for viewing by an online audience.

In “Daring Temptation” for example, an Ultrabook is installed in a display case near a busy area with the simple instruction to “Smash Glass to Win Ultrabook” and a small hammer. Would commuters prove daring enough to smash the glass in public and claim the prize?

According to Jayant Murty, Intel’s Asia Pacific director of brand strategy and integrated marketing, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes product stories are best told through the eyes of our prospective consumers. We hope that seeing the videos will stir up enough interest to go look for Ultrabooks at your nearest computer store.”

The first Ultrabooks –from brands*such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, LG, Samsung and Toshiba–are in stores now. By the end of the year, Intel expects more than 75 designs in market and that Ultrabooks will become mainstream devices.

The Ultrabook Temptations series can be seen at www.intel.com/ultrabooktemptations

About Intel
Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) is a world leader in computing innovation. The company designs and builds the essential technologies that serve as the foundation for the world’s computing devices. Additional information about Intel is available at newsroom.intel.com and blogs.intel.com.

Working on a document and then closing it before remembering to save it is extremely irritating and time wasting – normally the work has to be done all over again. Failing to back up the contents of an entire system and then losing everything, however, is devastating and potentially disastrous. The consequences for businesses can be extremely costly.

Business records are important and valuable; they might include, for example, accounting records, payroll information, minutes of business meetings, details of sales transactions and customer information. Employee details are also usually held electronically and most businesses rely on their IT systems on a day-to-day basis, and also at key points in the financial calendar. However systems do go wrong, and it is vital that a business is prepared in case its hardware or software malfunctions in some way.

Backing up electronic information

There are a number of ways to back up key electronic information and one of the simplest is to copy data to an external hard drive. Depending on the volume of information to be stored, this could be in the form of a portable unit that connects to a computer via a USB cable; a USB memory stick; or a CD disk.

Then there are desktop hard drives, some of which are multimedia, and also networking hard drives, or Networking Attached Storage (NAS), which work through a router and Wi-Fi and allow multiple users to access the drive. Some types of NAS provide automatic backup facilities.

Benefits of backing up

Backing up important data means that, should the worst happen, information that is vital to the smooth running of a business would not be lost. Better still, having copies available means that data can be shared with others – using portable devices mean it can be physically transported to computers elsewhere, whilst networked storage often has extra space in which additional hard drives can be installed, and this boosts storage capacity.

Networked storage also provides an additional backup solution as it can double copy files to separate drives – effectively backing up the backup copy.

Should the worst happen?

Contemplating disaster is not pleasant, but as with any risk assessment a wise business owner will have contingency plans for IT support in hand in the event of a problem. Computers do crash, sometimes because of a mechanical malfunction or a viral attack; adware and malware are now a part of digital life. Physical disasters also happen and everything from a spilled cup of coffee to a flood or a fire in an office can cause havoc if backup systems are not in place.

Similarly, care must be taken with portable devices – storing them in the same place as the system makes them as unsafe as the system itself, in the event of a physical problem. Storing records off site offers extra protection, and can also provide additional security, including data encryption and secure user logins.

It is worth taking the time to put in place a foolproof system for managing potential IT disasters – in fact, not doing so may cost the business time and money, including the expense of salvaging and replacing data, where this is at all possible.

Technology has been working for so long and we can’t deny the fact that in every action we do a day, it has been applied. Even using cellphone or simple gadget is one of the factors that technology indeed wraps our natural way of living.

Let us first define what a static or dedicated IP means. As you host your blog or website to a hosting account your site is given an IP address which serves as your “address” on the Internet (simplified: ”A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there.“). With most hosting accounts, IP address is shared. Dedicated IP means an IP address that is unique to your account/ blogs or website.

Why should get a dedicated IP?

Blog monetizing. For those earning money through their blog, it is very important that the site has a dedicated IP. Link builders (aka advertisers) favors site with dedicated IP as link from different IPs appears better in Google. Just imagine if an advertiser contacts you and you have like 20 websites, if you have a shared IP, the chances that the advertiser will buy more links from your site is very little. If you have dedicated IPs for each of your 20 sites that mean 20 paid links from the advertiser.

SEO advantage. A lot of people will say it does not affect SEO but actually it does. If you share IP address with other sites, a link from sites with the same IP as you are, will not be counted as backlinks (most likely) where as if you have 10 sites with each having their own unique IP address, that will be counted as 10 different backlinks (yes, even those sites are yours)

Unfriendly Neighbors. You know how it is to be living in a bad neighborhood? That even if you are not bad yourself, you are stereotyped as such? The same happens with shared IP address. If a website was tagged as a bad site and you share the same IP with it, most likely than not, your website will be tagged as one too.

How much a dedicated IP is? The usual rate for a dedicated IP is around $2.50+ per month.

You have to know though that you cannot have as much dedicated IP as you want since your host can only offer one IP address per account. If you have more blogs, I suggest you get a reseller account with your host and create different Cpanel. Hosting Reseller accounts can have as much dedicated Ip provided it is given one dedicated IP per Cpanel.

Reseller Hosting usually cost $20+ per month. If you have 10 blogs and want to avail 10 dedicated IP, then buy a reseller account. If you will compute it, that will only cost you $5+ (host) per blog per month. It’s actually cheap considering the amount that you will earn (and backlinks.

What should I expect if I change to a dedicated IP?

If you change (buy) a dedicated IP, all your blogs will now share the unique IP address given to you. Although the ultimate goal is to have one IP per blog, sharing it with just your blogs is still better than having the same IP with 100 or more other websites. After your purchase, it will take 1 hour to 6 hour until the changes is finished, and during this time, your blog will be located to a temporary location.

Now that you’re in WORDPRESS, plug ins will make your life easier and here are my TOP Must Install WordPress Plug ins:

AKISMET. this has to be the first plug in that you need to install, because s soon as your WP blog is up, bots ans spammers are making its way to post unrelated comments on your blog. Akismet does the work. Although not 100% but it really does protect the blog.Sometimes though, even valid comments are treated as spam, so check your spam folder from time to time.

Easy Contact. The most simple plug in for contact, just install it and create a page then insert a code. You will receive any inquiries made using this form and will be delivered to your email.

WordPress Database Backup. Automatically backs up your blog and the file is sent to your email. For bigger blogs though, you have to manually do it.

All in One Adsense and YPN for adsense. I love this plug in because I can control where and when my ads will appear.

Comment Reply Notification. if you love comments, I am sure your commenter would love to know what you think about their comments. Install this plug in and you can choose to notify the commenter when someone responds to his thread.

Simple Likebuttons (Facebook, Google+, Twitter). I use this plug in for my social networking needs.

Other plug ins that will make your life easy: (from WAHMaholic)

Platinum SEO Pack

StatPress Reloaded

Smart Archives Reloaded

We all know that WordPress user or blogs under wordpress has better opportunities in terms of money making online, in comparison to blogs under Blogger or any other blogging platform. Why, you may ask? As shared by one of my clients before, blogs under Blogger may be free but the content is not yours totally. Blogger can take away your blog without you knowing it. Advertiser would not love that, right?

And of course the options on Blogger is so limited. Remember I accidentally deleted 300 of my posts, just because Blogger does not have prompt message that asks you if you really are sure of what you are doing.

So if you have been blogging with Blogger and want to Migrate to WordPress, here a step by step tutorial, in simplest possible I can to help you on your way. Don’t fret, it’s not as hard as it sounds.. it takes a lot of patience trust me, I have been there and for someone who does not have patience over anything, I aced it (of course not without the help of tutorials and guidelines from WAHMaholic and Sammy). Sharing what I have learned on How To Migrate a Blogger Blog to WordPress

If you have been with Blogger using your own domain and does not want to lose your PageRank and Alexa Rank, this tutorial will work for you. Of course, by now, you already have your own host, not yet? Try Bluehost.. I have been with them since 2009 and I love them to bits. But if you are blogging under a subdomain from Blogger, a different Tutorial will be up for you in due time

THINGS TO DO FIRST:

Log on to your Blogger dashboard and export your blog so you can have a back up, just in case everything went wrong. Dashboard>> Settings>> Other>> Blog Tools>> Export

Convert your Blogger Blog to its blogspot address. Dashboard>> Basic>> Blog Address ( revert back to blogspot domain)

Now log on to your domain registrar, to change the nameserver of your domain. Change it to the nameserver of your host.

Log on to your host and add domain in your cpanel.

Install a new wordpress on your cpanel, install it with a www prefix (since your blogger blog uses a www)

After the wordpress is installed, you can now see your blog on WP platform.

IMPORTING BLOG FROM BLOGGER TO WORDPRESS:

Log in to your WP blog dashboard then install Blogger Importer plug in. Activate it then go to TOOLS then click IMPORT. Choose blogger from the options and then you will be asked if you will allow your new site to access your blogger account (in which you will need to put your password). Click the IMPORT button and wait. It takes time, specially if you have a lot of posts and comments from you blogger blog.

Change the Permalink Structure, since Blogger blogs uses .html on their permalink where as WP does not.. To maintain this permalink all you need to do is change the structure. Go to permalink then go to Custom and put this: /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html

Also install a PERMALINK PLUG IN for tying loose ends. as pointed out by Sam, WordPress automatically delete short words such as “the” “a” in the title name/ post name)

If you are an OC blogger and hates seeing how much categories you got after migrating to WordPress (WP automatically converts tags to categories), install Categories to Tags Converter Importer. You have the option which you can use as categories and which will remain as tags.

If you still want to bring your GFC followers with you, here’s what you must do:

log in to your GFC

Click on your blog (the one you migrated to WP, which is now on its blogspot address)

change the url to your own domain url then save

Generate the code and place it on your newly migrated blog.

CHANGE YOUR THEME or ask WAHMaholic Designs to that for you

Ever feel like no matter how well your car is running, you’re not getting the most out of it? If you’ve ever asked yourself that question then you can finally answer yourself that no, you’re not. Installed standard on all modern gas powered vehicles is an ECU or Electronic Control Unit that pretty much controls all the fine-tuned functions of your car automatically like the way your brain tells your heart and lungs to work on their own. The only problem with this is that the settings in the ECU are based on current emissions standards which in the long run basically means you’re only using a fraction of your car’s actual ability since it’s being limited by the ECU. The only way to change this in the past has been to entirely remove and replace the unit, but with the invention of performance chips the game has changed completely.

Performance Chips are a chip that utilizes the latest aftermarket electronic tech to take the control of your car’s performance away from the ECU and put into YOUR hands. What does this mean for you? Well, after you install the chip, the ECU is reconfigured to maximize efficiency by accommodating for air in an open throttle so you can increase the amount of fuel going to your engine while at the same time efficiently optimizing ho much fuel is consumed when the engine isn’t working as hard. When turned to its maximum setting in conjunction with other high performance parts, certain models of car have seen a gain of up to 60 HP! Installation itself is a snap with straightforward instructions that are simple enough for even a beginner mechanic.

In short, performance chips are a simple, easy way to get the most out of your car with legitimate and 100% legal results. Since the effect on your car is no more than it was built for there’s no risk to your car from using one either so the only thing you have to lose is the time you’ve spent so far without having one in your car. Pick one up today and see the difference the moment you get back out on the road!
