When you are using Blogger as your platform, you know that it has no categories unlike WordPress. It only uses labels or tags. And when you transfer your blog to WordPress, this tags converts to Categories. Just imagine if you have 1000+ tags or labels, that would be converted to categories. Take this, if you posted an article about ink cartridges in your old blogger blog, you will have to label it with Ink, then also use tags to identify your post. More often than not, you will tag with a very specific tag. And so when you migrate to WP, these tags will converted to category, Just imagine what will happen to it all, even the most specific tag will be converted to category!

For someone who is very organized, that is a mess to deal with. After transferring my blog there are more than a thousand tags and then I discovered the beauty of Categories to Tags Converter Importer. It’s a great plug in for WordPress, just search for it then install it and activate it. After that, go to your tools then import and you will see the Categories to Tags Converter Importer, juts click and now you select what will be converted back to tags. It’s the best plug in for those who are planning to migrate, well aside from the other plug ins that you will need. Oh wait! I might as well make a list of must download plug ins for migrations.

I was really amazed how Fedhz presented here photos on her blog. I can’t remember how many times she told me what kind of plug ins she is using. And how many times she told me to use it too. She is using the NextGEN Gallery plug in. This plug in offers a Flash slideshow options. Now, if I want to make different kinds of birth announcements, and want to show it to my friends, this kind of plug in will be very helpful. The photos will appear as thumbnails and if clicked, the photo will enlarge and the background will be blurred.

I am still new to using WordPress as my blogging platform and until now, my plug ins are limited to akismet, sociable and adsense plug ins. Maybe a few more weeks and less work, I will have NextGEN Gallery plug in installed on my blogs.
